There are some hopeful signs that the world community is changing its view on Israel. For many the palestinians reaction to 9/11 was a wake up call. Seeing them dancing and singing in the streets didn’t leave much room for interpretation, although some politicians felt obliged to make up excuses for that too.
But even now there are those who can’t or won’t see the situation for what it really is, most notably the UN. Five days ago when the Israelis retaliated against the constant rocket attacks from Gaza, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon described the rocket attacks as “acts of terrorism” but at the same time he and his organisation condemned Israel for their “disproportionate and excessive use of force that has killed and injured so many civilians, including children”.
Of course Mr Ban knows very well that Gaza is very densely populated so attacking Hamas inevitably means killing civilians. Especially since Hamas urge people to take to the streets and voice their anger whenever Israelis troops are around. Proportionate defence under such circumstances is just code for roll over and die.
And while Israel unintentionally kills civilians and sometimes children, Hamas and other Palestinian terrorists do so quite deliberately. Yesterday it happened again when eight people were killed in a Jewish religious college, among them children between 14 to 16 years old. The UN Secretary called it a “savage attack” but the Security Council failed to condemn it.
That says a lot about the UNs disproportionate bias against Israel. A bias which continues to encourage terrorists in the Middle east and worldwide.

Ah Yes.. an old story resurfaces as if people may have forgotten. First of all, the Palestinians dancing in the street garbage was proven to be a video created by Israeli media who asked the children and other ignorant Palestinians to act joyful.
Even if this were true, remember your own kind. When the terrorist Baruch Goldstein massacred innocent Palestinians worshipers in Hebron in 1994, the Israelis erected a monument for him as a hero! Do all Israelis think Baruch – may he rot in hell – was a hero? I doubt it!
As for Gaza and the same old story of justifying the killing of innocent civilians, this remains as a despicable act by Israel. Israel’s record of human rights violations, racism and massacre is an atrocious resume that shows “experience” for such Nazi-like acts over the past 60 years.

Actually, Hamas has not claimed responsibility for the massacre at the religious college. But I agree with you that Israel absolutely has the right to protect itself against the terrorists. However, the country also needs to restraint itself a little bit. Abbas is in a precarious position; any possibility of future peace hinges on his cooperation.
ATW: If it’s really been proven you would have given references.
“Do all Israelis think Baruch – may he rot in hell – was a hero? I doubt it!”
No, only a few extremists. Hamas, however, who have broad popular support, have called the latest child murders “a natural reaction”. And there out dancing again as you can see here http://itn.co.uk/videos/923990072db9457ff257645ce9f11ad6.html
There will always be some extremists like Baruch Goldstein in all populations but clearly a large portion of the Palestinians are no more than Islamofascists.
And for the record, I’m not Jewish. More and more people, all around the world, are realizing the danger of muslim extremism.
leafless: I heard on the news just one hour ago that Hamas claimed responsibility. I think Abbas sincerely wants peace, but it will never happen as long those engaging in terrorism are rewarded for it. Just look at what happened when the Israelis pulled out of Gaza. It just gave Hamas a place to launch attacks on Israel. Hardly a gesture of good will.
Sorry I write what ever comes out of my simple brain, I don’t write well at all.
First I thing the whole thing is very sad.
The saddest part is that the Arab news like aljazeera or even CNN always makes the Arabs look stupid. it’s the same story all the time. the Palestinians are standing next to a bombed house scratching their heads, they Arab media finds the dumbest people on purpose.(Palestinians are not dumb. Have many arab friends who are so smart they scare me.) The problem in Palestine is the same problem they had in Lebanon the hamas. I don’t really think Iran is the supporter for hamas, I think Iran is getting paid to pretend they are hamas supporters and act crazy to look like they are against Israel but I don’t really see a reason for Iran to hate Israel, i was living with a Persian women for 3 years and have a lot of Iranian friends (manhattan N.Y) Iranian Muslim new Yorkers my age in their 30-40 are very down to earth cool people who love to experience life, there women are treated like queens with a lot of respect. Iranian people got lot of talent in music, art, food culture there mind is very open. Their government is getting paid to act like idiots in the media.
I think the countries that are really creating the Hamas are the countries that have the power of the oil or gas. You be surprise but I am assuming the same company who owns the majority of Warner Brothers, Aol, CNN Disney, citi bank stocks. Which bought it from their huge oil profit? I think they are creating an unbalance environment in the middle east with Israel so they can hold back the petroleum barrels and raise the prices, If there will complete peace in the middle east they buyer countries or corporations won’t be afraid to bargain and probably go to different country and bargain cause there is peace.( buyers market) If there is war and fear of unbalance in the Middle East, it’s a sellers market.
Back to the media making Palestinians look stooped every time.
Palestine’s said they are not the hamas why is Israel hitting them. They see the hamas on their roofs of their houses shooting rocket bombs on Israel schools, towns and homes, they know Israel is going to hit then back after couple of months of holding off. If the Palestinians dont want to get together and kick the hamas out of Palestine they should just give the land to hamas and let israel deal with hamas. they are bombing Israeli city for six months strait every day ,even if the hamas is doing it, not the Palestinian, they should have learned from the last 50 times Israel is going to hit back and when hit back they are not going to play games. But the Palestinians in the media are always surprised.
Israel helped build all of Palestine, schools, roads, the factories, Israel employees the majority of the Palestine before the hamas took power 3 years a go. Israeli’s rather have Palestine’s who are educated with a good healthy economy that can live in peace; Israel is in peace with Jordan and Egypt, and if it wasn’t for the hamas and Syria it would have in peace with Lebanon . I see on FB all these free Palestine causes, they are free and Israel keeps giving them land and then the Palestinians use the land for to shoot rockets on Israel. They been doing this for years but now hamas use way better rockets that go deeper in to Israel populated cities and its getting to the point that hamas got to go, especially that there reason is biblical and they wont stop till all the Israeli citizens are push to the water. if the Arabs take over Jerusalem they won’t allow and Christian stuff or Jesus stuff or Jews stuff. The Muslim believes the only religion u r allowed to know or follow is Muslim. Jews and the catholic religion believe every human is a part of god creation. If the Palestine’s really want to live Palestine in peace and raise kids that will educated and be useful and helpful to their country and even the world. Like the real Koran from the Muslim religion write, the Koran also teaches you how to kill your ego to make you a better person not to be to brainwash the kids how to hate and kill their only one life for the cause of a little land.
All religions purpose is to make the individual person believe in himself, when you thank God for the food you are eating you are thanking yourself, Religions helps try to understand your thoughts but religions wants to control your thoughts just like the media today
Humans are becoming smarter or more aware of their surrounding a lot quicker then 50 yrs ago.
The human’s communications and technologies are expanding forward at a faster rate
then most people can follow. And the older generation is really having a hard time understanding the new world, the new world create fear with the older people because they are afraid to loose control. The problem is they have the money which gives them power and the use the manipulated religions to control the new generation, but the new generations coming back with newer technologies which helps people from all around the globe come together as understandable humans
We are humans but are here on earth in one life for the same reason animals are, to reproduce, we all got same color blood following from our hearts in our body and all want a easy and comfortable life. Humans created a lot of the emotions and feelings in our belly and brains. The media tells you brain what is good or what is bad and how to react to it. They creating the different class of people cause that everyone can be the boss.
Yalla I am tired of writing
I suppose the Palestinians you see on the news act surprised or appalled because they want to portray themselves as the victims. But I don’t think the media look up stupid people. You have to remember that the muslims in America are an elite. Here in Europe they are much simpler and a lot more hostile. Probably even more so in the Middle East.
As for the oil producers keeping this conflict alive for financial reasons, I’m not sure what to believe. But as long as their is an economic incentive it’s possible. Putin, the russian gas-dictator, seems very friendly with the Iranian leadership so I wouldn’t rule it out.
